Ninth Heaven – Mission & Submission Standards
We publish literature and art not for the moment, but for the work of civilisation.

Mission
Ninth Heaven is a journal of literature and art. We exist to nurture cultural flourishing by cultivating beauty, truth, and the discipline of the human spirit. Each piece we publish is more than an isolated work: it is part of a larger conversation, contributing to a tradition that resists noise and pursues depth.
Our Standards
We welcome work that embodies seriousness, care, and imagination. To preserve the integrity of the journal, we ask contributors to keep in mind:
- Beyond division – We do not publish polemic or culture-war commentary. Ninth Heaven is a place for clarity, not partisanship.
- Timelessness – We value work that endures beyond trend or moment. Ephemeral opinion quickly dates; thoughtful work remains.
- Breadth of vision – We welcome wide and generous perspectives, attentive to diverse inheritances and traditions.
- Excellence – Whether experimental or traditional, every contribution must show discipline, originality, and depth.
Submissions
Written Work
- Submit as Word or PDF, set in a clear serif font.
- Include a short description (100–150 words) introducing the work’s theme or significance.
- For longer fiction or cultural essays, we encourage prior consultation with an editor.
Visual Art
- Send high-resolution JPEG or TIFF files.
- Provide both a direct, front-facing image and additional angles in clear light.
Music & Media
- Submit MP3 files at a minimum of 128 kbps.
- Where possible, include cover art, stills, or related visuals.
General Principles
- Human authorship – We do not accept AI-generated work. Any experimental use of AI must be disclosed.
- Editorial process – Our editors may refine or amend a piece for clarity and fit. Contributors are expected to work in good faith with the process.
- Eligibility – Submissions are open to contributors 18 years and older.
Commitments of Contributors
To contribute to Ninth Heaven is to share in an ongoing work of culture. We encourage regular engagement — ideally one submission per month — though frequency should never come at the expense of quality. Submissions may appear under one’s own name or a chosen pseudonym. What matters is seriousness, not speed.
Rights & Permissions
- Authors retain copyright.
- Ninth Heaven holds first-publication rights, and may republish work in anthologies or themed collections.
- After publication, authors are free to republish elsewhere, with acknowledgement of Ninth Heaven as the original publisher.
- By submitting, authors grant our editors permission to refine works in line with the journal’s standards.
Closing
Ninth Heaven will from time to time call for work around particular themes or motifs. These collections and journals allow contributors to be read within a wider chorus of voices.
Above all, we seek work that strengthens culture, deepens perception, and remains when the moment has passed.
We look forward to reading yours.
